Auckland Zoo virtual Zoom Session

 Auckland Zoo virtual Zoom Session

Today Wednesday 17th November, Rooms 1, 2, and 3 had a special Zoom session with Auckland Zoo friends PJ and Ngaio.

We played a listenin game. We all had to listening carefully to bird sounds and guess which bird made the sound. We had to either, clap, thumbs up, heart, or party sign to guess.
All the birds make beautiful sounds.  One of these can be hard because they mimic other sounds too. Can you guess which one?

Facts about the Kereu.
1. They are also known as a Wood Pigeon,
2. It is New Zealand's native pigeon.
3. It can swallon a whole small fruit, such as grapes.

Facts about the Piwakawaka.
1. Also known as a Fantail.
2. It is a small song bird.
3. When they open their tail feather, it looks like a fan.
4. Another New Zealand native bird.

We are learning about how we can be Kaitiaki - Protectors and guardians of our environments.
Thank you PJ and Ngaio for teaching us today about the importance of being a Kaitiaki.

  2. Hi Mrs Tofa, Thank you for commenting on our Auckland Zoo Zoom experience. It was exciting to learning about 2 beautiful New Zealand birds and the important job they do of being seed dispersal, especially the Kereru. It eats a whole fruit and poos out its seed. How funny and cool. Nga mihi, Mrs Forsyth, Room 3.
